12 weeks...

I was doing such a good job getting this blog started. Starting to document and share, and then came morning sickness...and Oral Boards...and Thanksgiving travel...and blogging went right out the window. Then somehow an entire month passed with nary a post!

Belly growing fast this time! Only up 2lbs!
So, morning sickness has been significantly worse this time. When I was pregnant with Owen, I felt crummy and sick the first trimester, but I ate crackers all day and I was ok - probably threw up a total of 2-4 times total. This time, I just haven't been. For weeks, I threw up at least once every day. I don't know if that means this one is a girl, or if it's just different - different chasing a toddler without the mental distraction of teaching a class of 26 Kindergarteners (5 of which were the most difficult children I've EVER dealt with - and I did Habilitation with kids with autism for 5 years). Or is it different because I'm trying not to constantly stuff my face with carbs, since I'm still carrying around 25 of the pounds I put on during my first pregnancy! Regardless of why, it's been hard - and I have felt like such a crummy mommy! More times than I'd care to count, Owen has stood "over" my shoulder patting and rubbing my back as I threw up. There is nothing sadder than your 15 month old having pity on you and being worried about his mommy!

Up next...Oral Boards. Ugh, I know that I wasn't the one that had to study and travel to Philly for a week and stress out and go through the incredible stress that is people purposely asking you tricky questions and trying to intimidate you and make you slip up - which of course J didn't! He was amazing like he always is and he passed - yay! But, I did have to deal with a hubby who was stressed and anxious for approximately a month prior - who was on call pretty much every other day for a week, then left for 7 days, then was on call the next day when he got back and 2 days after he got back - leading up to the day we left at 4am to go back to the desert for Thanksgiving! Ugh - all while taking care of a toddler alone and dealing with significant morning sickness. Then in Phx, Owen had some nasty diapers for a few days followed by J and I both ending up with a stomach virus Thanksgiving and Friday! YAY! Sooo sick, but while we were both miserable - Owen was happily destroying the hotel room feeling grand. Glad Owen never went down, but still curious how he gave it to both of us and never really got sick himself. Then we had some unexpected expense on our Thanksgiving trip and it is taking FOREVER to get our reimbursements from J's trip - err! Thankfully, God is good ALL the time and we found out that J's work covers a little over half of our deductible for the birth - so our monthly OB bill for the next 6 months went from $410 to $205! Yay, praise the Lord! That will make a huge difference for us!
